“Spain after the crisis”


The Annual Summit for the American Business Council took place on 20 September 2018, at the Alcobendas campus of the Universidad Europea, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the association. The chief focus of this year’s summit was on Spain after the crisis.
The ceremony was opened by Miguel Carmelo, chairman of the American Business Council, and Duke Buchan III, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra, who reinforced the well-established relationship between both countries. José María Peredo, Professor at the Universidad Europea further helped in the opening act where he introduced his report, titled, “Spain after the crisis”.
The Summit’s first round table, moderated by Pelayo Bezanilla, Public Affairs and Communications Manager of Coca-Cola Iberia, addressed Spain’s current state after the crisis with the help of Juan Pedro Moreno, Chairman and CEO of Accenture in Spain, Portugal and Israel; Juan Orti, Chairman of AMEX; Jon Bilbao, General Manager of Dow Chemical; Helena Herrero, Chairman and General Manager of HP Inc. Iberia; and Marta Martínez Alonso, Chairman of IBM.
The second-round table of discussion, moderated by the journalist, Antonio San José, further addressed “Spain’s challenges after the crisis” with the help of Ex-minister and Chairman of the Fundación COTEC, Cristina Garmendia; Ex-minister, Josep Piqué and Chairman of the American Business Council, Miguel Carmelo.
Soon after Miguel Carmelo’s kind words of appreciation, Ana Pastor, President of the Congress of Deputies closed the annual summit of the American Business Council.
